MISSION STATEMENT
This blog lightly supports my video channel but keeps super minimal.
Question -- why did you take down your old blog?
I've now received 5 emails from people upset --or even angry-- that I took down my old blog in 2025. The reasons seem complex and nuanced -- but perhaps, mostly, I felt tired of maintaining a large, all original content blog. It took a lot of time to maintain the blog, plus answer emails. I never got many comments -- but received many emails.
I kept an electronics website and then a blog for ~ 30 years -- it was time to move on! I enjoyed a good run -- I sought to wind down. I'm sorry to cause inconvenience to folks.
Further:
Blogging peaked perhaps in 2008-2010 --- people have moved onto social media + videos -- and a majority of people do not read blogs.
Further -- if they have questions -- people will probably use AI search summaries or prompted AI queries to answer them. Thus, in my opinion, blogging like we did in the past, seems out-of-date -- best used as small, complimentary part of a so-called creator's toolkit -- which focuses mostly on social media + video content. Personally, with only 1 exception , I don't ever read blogs -- so why would I keep one?
I watch a few YT video channels covering varied topics each day on our living room media server. So I now make videos occasionally -- and blog list them here as a resource.
So Simple Radio Channel
I aim to keep my video channel as small as possible. I only make videos about topics I'm interested in -- and I don't care about the algorithm, subscribers, likes, view numbers, hyperbole, nor entertaining people as they doom scroll. I enjoy practical, hardcore, bench-driven, component-level analog electronics & solid-state design -- and my target audience is therefore quite small. Please email me if you have questions or need support. -- Thanks for your emails and your support over the past 3 decades! Appreciate it. Best to you! Lid.
WHATS UPCOMING?
Mostly in the garden -- go on the bench about once per week. Have 1 video planned for Spring. Studying the CXA1019S chip from Sony. --Amazing IC-- !
